Birch Rocks |
Birch Rocks Sanctuary is 101 acres of mixed hardwood and hemlock forest. There are two marked trails. The half mile yellow trail slopes gently downward to the shore of Lake Lillinonah. The more rugged red trail forms a one mile loop leading to an ancient, protected oak tree. Birch Rocks allows the visitor to experience a sense of isolation that is difficult to find anywhere else in Brookfield. Thick stands of trees filter out sound from the surrounding residential areas. 74 acres of protected land owned by the Weantinoge Heritage Regional Land Trust are adjacent to Birch Rocks at its northeast border. |
